2001 Conference
Twenty-Fifth Annual GSA Conference Washington, D.C. October 4 - 7, 2001 The Twenty-Fifth Annual Conference of the German Studies Association will be held in Greater Washington DC from Thursday evening, October 4, through Sunday noon, October 7, 2001 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, located at 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202. The Conference Program will be available on this web site during June (or earlier) 2001, and will be published in hard copy in August, when it will be mailed to participants and members of the German Studies Association. This is a 25th Anniversary Conference, and a special program is being prepared for the Friday evening dinner. Be sure to reserve your attendance. A Conference Registration Form and a Hotel Reservation Form are available on this site. They may be printed out and mailed to the GSA Main Office as indicated, with a check drawn on a United States bank in U.S. dollars. No foreign checks will be accepted. Canadian checks drawn in U.S. or Canadian dollars are not accepted. Eurocheques are not accepted. Registrants may also use Visa or Master Card for payment. In that case, kindly fill out the form with the correct credit card number and expiration date. Do not forget to sign the form. The forms may also be faxed to the GSA Main Office. A Hotel Reservation Form is only valid when there is also a Conference Registration Form. Do not send the Hotel Reservation Form to the hotel. GSA assigns its room block, so the form must be sent directly to the GSA Main Office. This is done to assure that only conference registrants are in our room block. We urge registration and reservation as early as possible, because we cannot guarantee rooms after our block has been sold. The GSA Conference Rate is only available to registrants. This web site also contains information about airline and auto rental discounts. Special discounts on United Airlines are available. All persons on the Program must be members of the German Studies Association. A membership form is available on this web site, and it can be sent to the GSA Secretary-Treasurer, Prof. Gerald A. Fetz. It should not be sent to the Main Office of the Association. Germany Congratulates the GSA on our 25th Anniversary The German Embassy in Washington, the Goethe Institute (814 Seventh St., NW), and the German Historical Institute (1607 New Hampshire Ave., NW) in Washington have offered congratulations to the GSA on our 25th Anniversary Conference. On Saturday evening, October 6, both the Goethe Institute and the German Historical Institute have scheduled cocktail receptions for participants in the Conference at 6:30pm. Admission is by GSA Conference badge. In order to judge approximately how many conference participants will come, registrants are asked to note in advance on the registration form whether they intend to attend one of the cocktail receptions. Advance notice is helpful, but not required. Kindly note on the registration form whether you plan to attend, and which one. |
