General Conference Information

GSA Twenty-Eighth Annual Conference

October 6 10, 2004, Washington, D.C.

The German Studies Association will hold its Twenty-Eighth Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. from Octobver 6 10, 2004 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. This information page contains important information that all potential participants should read.

GSA has a small Main Office staff, and it is necessary to observe Conference procedures and read Conference information materials carefully so that the staff can deal with important issues that arise, and are not forced to spend valuable time on repeating information that is printed on the web site. We regret that we must state this, but the small staff size and the large number of requests for information mandate it. Please read web information carefully.

Submitting Proposals:
Read the Guidelines first. Both session and individual paper proposals are welcome. Submit proposals using GSA forms, and kindly submit them in a timely fashion.

Hotel Information:
Further information about the Conference Hotel will be published on the web site and in the Newsletter in a short time. In the meantime, it is important to know that all hotel reservations MUST be made through GSA. A reservation request is not valid without a Conference Registration.

Conference Registration:
Last year, GSA introduced on-line Conference Registration. It was successfully used by over 400 participants. This year, ONLY on-line registration will be possible in advance of the Conference. On-Site Registration will be available for walk-ins. However, there will be no mail or fax registration.

In order to take advantage of the on-line system, you will need a computer, a browser (like Explorer or Netscape), and a MasterCard or Visa. You should turn off cookie control for the duration of the registration process. Your computer will need to accept cookies for the process to work. It is a simple, painless process, much like ordering a book.
